Biobank
The InCHIANTI Biobank is a collection of biological samples of the study population.
In particular, serum, plasma, buffy coats and urine have been collected since 1998 for analysis with the aim to identify biomarkers related to aging process and in particular those linked to the pathway to frailty and disability.
The repository is located at Presidio Ospedaliero Piero Palagi, in Florence, where specimens are stored at 4°C, -20° and -80°C to assure a minimal deterioration over time.
Quality control is regularly conducted. Archival systems de-identify samples with respect to the privacy of donors.
